Meet LeAngela Aitken, an Accredited Online Business Manager (OBM) who transitioned from a long corporate career to the nonprofit world and how she discovered a way to combine both backgrounds into a successful OBM career that provides her with joy, fulfillment and the ability to exhale financially all while doing what she LOVES. LeAngela is yet another example of how while no two OBMs are alike – the ability to live life by design doing the things that light you up is 100% possible.

Like many who transition from corporate into the online space, at first LeAngela was apprehensive about finding clients – especially since she had never worked as a Virtual Assistant or online before. She describes her leap into the OBM role as jumping into the deep end without knowing how to swim and in the same breath shares that joining the OBM Accreditation program is the best investment she’s ever made in her life.

One of her biggest walk-aways was being able to take the skills she had previously segmented and directed into specific areas into a holistic offer that is now providing her non-profit clients with solutions that enable these organizations to operate more effectively and have more time to serve their communities.

Which is one of the things I most admire about LeAngela – she doesn’t just talk the talk, but walks the walk when it comes to creating an impact driven career.

In this Day in the Life of an OBM interview with LeAngela we discuss:

  • How leaning into her natural desire to help others has benefits both her and her clients
  • Her ah-ha niche moment (and how that brought all her previous life and career experiences full circle)
  • The importance of community and approaching entrepreneurship with a give-first approach
  • Why LeAngela recommends being intentional, persistent and patient when building your business
