High-paying clients are the holy grail of the Online Service Professional world. Do these clients actually exist? Where do they hang out? And where can you find them? These are all questions I see a lot in my Confident OBM® Community and elsewhere in the Online Service Professional space. Read on to find out more!
So, the million-dollar question: Where do I find high-paying clients for my online business? I know you’re here to find the answer but… It may be easier to tell you what NOT to do if you want to attract these clients to your business so you know what mistakes to avoid when trying to land your ideal client!
Way back when I first started my business in 2009, free Facebook groups were a great place to find clients. In 2009, there were only so many places where clients and Online Service Professionals could hang out. It was a totally different experience back then!
Nowadays, the online landscape has changed. There are countless small communities popping up on various social media websites and job boards. High-paying clients are no longer hanging out in free Facebook groups! Instead, they’re investing in paid communities (both online and in-person) that cater to their needs better. Remember: you’re not the only one with an ideal client profile, high-paying clients themselves have an ideal freelancer in mind to work with for their own businesses and in their minds, their ideal candidates aren’t hanging out in free Facebook groups. It’s worth investing in a few communities and mastermind groups to find your ideal clients and start networking with other freelancers who may recommend your services to their clients while you’re at it.
Now that you’ve put yourself out there, you probably already have clients looking you up out of curiosity. What’s the first thing they’re going to see when they search your name or click on your social media profile? How’s your website looking? If you don’t want to attract these premium clients, you can leave your website in a mess or go on without one… But if you want to reel them in, remember that you need to lead by example. Button up your own business, which includes your website and your social media profiles so that when you start interacting and building your network it conveys that you know your stuff!
Your website can also be your portfolio and your calling card rolled up in one neat little package. It’s often the first thing that clients will see when they look you up, so make sure it’s in tip-top shape! And make sure that you have a killer client onboarding experience to really nail that first impression down.
